Usually, yes. We regularly take over maintenance for sites built by someone else — a previous agency, a freelancer who's moved on, or an in-house effort that's outgrown DIY. The process is straightforward: we review the site to understand how it's built and flag any existing issues, get it onto secure, monitored hosting with proper backups, bring software and plugins up to date, and close any security gaps we find. From there it's maintained like any site we build.
The main things that affect a takeover are getting full access (admin logins, domain, hosting) and the condition of the site: something built on unusual or badly outdated tech may need more work up front, and we'll tell you honestly if a rebuild would actually cost less than propping up something fragile. But most sites are perfectly maintainable regardless of who built them.
